1992-Planning for the Information Technology Industries provides a summary of the relevant legislation, research programs, and proposals for the establishment of a single European market for information technology (IT). The development of the European Community's (EC) policy and the implications of its implementation for the EC and third country markets are examined. The views from a number of major organizations that operate in the telecommunications, broadcasting, and information services markets are considered to provide an insight into some of the factors influencing planning for 1992. This collection of articles covers the European market and its legal dimensions. This book focuses on whether it is possible to find practical, as well as theoretical, evidence for the existence of a single market in Europe, and examines what its practical meaning is for the member states and their trading partners. The authors and editors agree that the European single market exists not just in theory or in EC legislation but that it has a genuine meaning for the day-to-day activities of European citizens at work in a variety of economic and business sectors. Following up actions taken by auditees as a result of audit recommendations is a key element in the cycle of accountability. This report reviews the actions taken by the European Commission and assesses the extent to which it has implemented the audit recommendations in seven of the Court's Special Reports selected from the period 2003-09, which cover three budgetary areas: agriculture, energy and external actions. The Court found that the Commission had taken action to implement the Court's recommendations and that of the 45 recommendations requiring implementation, 13 (29%) had been fully implemented, one (2%) had not been implemented, a further 22 (49%) had been implemented in most respects and nine (20%) had been implemented in some respects. Accordingly, the Commission needs to take some further steps to fully address these recommendations.

"Following up the Court's performance audit reports is a necessary element in the cycle of accountability and helps encourage the effective implementation of report recommendations by the Commission. The current report presents the results of the Court's second review of the Commission's follow-up of a sample of 62 recommendations from 10 Special Reports from the period 2006-10.On the basis of its review the Court concludes that the Commission adequately follows up the Court's recommendations. The review of the sample showed that the Commission has implemented 83% of the Court's recommendations, either fully or in most respects, which has contributed towards improving the financial management in a number of areas of the EU budget."--Page 4 of cover.

On the 27th of September 1968, the six EC Member States signed the Brussels Convention on jurisdiction and the enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters. 50 years later, the European Court of Justice and the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg organised an international conference on the major developments, achievements and challenges of the European law of civil procedure. This book brings together contributions written by members of the Court of Justice of the European Union, established academics and young researchers reflecting on the Brussels Regime. It offers insights on the dialogue between the Court of Justice and national courts on the interpretation of the European law of civil procedure and how it shaped the Europeanisation of private international law. Beyond this assessment of the past, the book offers some reflections on the future architecture of the European law of civil procedure and the suitability of the Brussels regime to the challenges of the current era.
