In Argentina, Pentecostalism had a breakthrough in the early 1980s, and today more than 10 per cent of the population are Pentecostals. The revival coincided with a socio-political transformation of Argentinean society. After half a century of dictatorships and Peronism, democracy was restored, and structural changes paved the way for an autonomisation of the political, economic, scientific and religious spheres. The "new" form of society that developed resembles what in this study is called a Western model, which to a large degree has been, and still is, spread on a global scale. In this book, Aasmundsen examines the religious sphere and how Pentecostals relate to society at large, and the political and judicial spheres in particular.

Edition der Sammlung zu Computus, Astronomie und Kosmologie von Abbo von Fleury (-1004) nach der Berliner Handschrift Phill. 1833. Abbo von Fleury war einer der grossen Gelehrten des 10. Jahrhunderts. Seine Sammlung zu Computus, Astronomie und Kosmologie hat in Auszügen und Neuzusammenstellungen große Verbreitung gefunden. Eine Handschrift, nämlich Berlin Phill. 1833, enthält die Sammlung jedoch besonders sorgfältig geschrieben und konsistent aufgebaut. Sie wurde um das Jahr 1000 oder wenig später, eventuell großteils noch zu Abbos Lebzeiten oder bald nach seinem Tod (1004) angefertigt. Sie gilt als die beste Zusammenstellung des Materials. Abbos Sammlung lag bisher lediglich in einer kaum brauchbaren Edition in Mignes Patrologia Latina vor, die auf einer Edition des 16. Jahrhunderts basiert. Daneben existieren modernere Teileditionen kleinerer Abschnitte. Dass sich bisher niemand an eine Neuedition des Ganzen gewagt hat, liegt wohl an den teilweise recht komplexen Grafiken. Die vorliegende Edition geht hier neue Wege. Alle Tabellen werden mit dem Computer berechnet und mit der Handschrift verglichen. Die grafischen Darstellungen werden mit Hilfe von eigens geschriebenen Programmen als digitale Bilder generiert, die die Darstellungen in der Handschrift in Farbe, genau und maßstabsgerecht nachbilden. Alfred Lohr studierte Philosophie, Theologie, Mathematik, Physik und semitische Sprachen in Rom, Würzburg und Bristol. Abschluss als Diplom-Mathematiker. Beruflich als Abteilungsleiter im Rechenzentrum der Universität Freiburg i.Br. und als IT-Manager in der Schweizer Industrie (Ciba-Geigy, Novartis, IBM) tätig. Nach Pensionierung Studium der lateinischen Philologie des Mittelalters in Freiburg, mit Promotion abgeschlossen.
