'Throughout the Psalms we witness David cry out for deliverance in seasons of anguish and grief, seeking refuge and strength from the Lord. Likewise, Jesus petitioned God in the garden of Gethsemane for strength in a time of dire need. The cries from both David and Jesus to God reflect the forgotten spiritual discipline of lament. Lament is not sorrow without ultimate hope--that is despair. Fast drei Jahrzehnte lang - 1949 bis 1977 - nahm Hermann Kunst als Bevollmächtigter des Rates der Evangelischen Kirche in Deutschland (EKD) in Bonn die Interessen seiner Kirche in den staatlichen und politischen Institutionen der Bundesrepublik wahr. Er verteidigte die gesetzlich verankerten Privilegien der Kirche, gestaltete die Beziehungen zur DDR und übte Einfluss auf verschiedene Gesetzgebungsprojekte der Bundesregierung aus. Das Wirken dieses Kirchendiplomaten vollzog sich überwiegend außerhalb der öffentlichen Wahrnehmung und Kontrolle. "Meister Eckhart is rightly considered one of the most speculative medieval thinkers. His extensive use of philosophical sources is balanced, however, by an equally thorough biblical foundation of his theology. While staunchly upholding the perfect concordance between natural reason and revelation, Eckhart never proclaims the 'sublation' of Sacred Scripture into the philosophical concept but develops his theological approach from within the biblical text in its ineliminable positivity. At the same time, he does not consider the Bible as a radically different source of knowledge whose principles are at odds with the natural world and human reality. This volume presents the research activities of Evangelische Theologische Faculteit Leuven during the last four decades: a faculty with its location rooted in the heart of Europe and its nature connected to an international academic community. For 40 years now, ETF Leuven is a place where researchers from different cultural and denominational backgrounds and different parts of the world engage in evangelical theology. Through an Introduction and no fewer than eighteen chapters, this volume shows how ETF Leuven fosters a connection between academic research and faithful engagement with faith communities. "Religion, Media and Conversion in Iran studies the reception of Farsi Christian television channels by Muslim audiences in Iran: their motivations in viewing the Christian message, their methods of interpretation and negotiation with different media texts and their process of changing or altering their religion. Rooted in empirical research, it analyses three hundred narratives drawn from the audiences of four Farsi Christian satellite television channels between 2010 and 2015, investigating their conversion to Christianity through that medium.
